Comanche Splash Park

The on post housing unit we live in has a community center complete with a splash park! The kids actually don't enjoy it as much as I thought they would. The first 10 minutes is great fun, then Buxton and Brayleigh prefer to watch the other kids play. I don't think Brayleigh has ever actually gone into the water. She just enjoys the sprinkles are she runs around.

Rose Cake

A neighbors husband approached me to order a surprise 4th wedding anniversary cake for his wife. I was excited because most the cakes I have done are birthday cakes, this would be a change of pace. The husband, however, gave me NO ideas what so ever! All he requested was a chocolate strawberry cake. I made a 6" round chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, and fresh strawberries. These roses you see were my very first attemps, ever! I taught myself how to make them... one of those white roses is my first! I still need practice, but I was impressed. And so was the wife!

"Fetch, Hutch"

Our new favorite thing to do is to take Hutch to the field across the street and play fetch. He is an amazing dog!

Hutch Harrison

Just like a husband and wife know when it's time to start trying for another child, they know when it's time to start dog hunting! My husband is a dog man, me, not so much. Recently I approached Matthew (whos been dying for one since we got married) with my feeling about finally getting our dog. We hunted around, trying to find not a pet, but another Harrison! That's when we found Hutch, formally known as Max. So on Sunday, after church, we loaded up the kids, packed a lunch, and headed to south Austin to meet Hutch, see if he was a good fit for our family. He was! He melted our hearts as soon as we met him. He is such a sweet, handsome boy! He is so loved and spoiled! He is well trained, we are teaching him some of our commands, but he is a great dog. He doesn't run off, beg for food, he isn't too hyper, and he doesn't bark! He's perfect! Hutch is house broken and kennel trained. He gets brushed twice a day and belly rubs constantly. He is super sweet with the kids and the kids are super sweet with him.

A Small Party

Our neighbor, Jami, celebrated her birthday last week. She thought it would be OK to not have a cake. I, of course, stepped in. You're never too old to have the Happy Birthday song sung to you! We enjoyed some red velvet cake with sweetened cream cheese frosting.

Jami and our other neighbor, Nina, both moved this week. So it was a nice farewell party as well. In the military community you see people come and go. It's important to keep those memories.

S'mores

Matthew and I invited the neighborhood over for s'mores (my absolute favorite food, up there with fresh fruit)! The kids had a blast, besides all the mesquites of course.

Toy Story 3

Thanks to my Aunt Tonya, we were able to give the kids their first movie theater experience. She sent us Toy Story 3 movie tickets, stickers, and posters. We loaded up on snack and popcorn... all to make it through about 1/2 the movie! Buxton did great, he was lovin' the movie. Brayleigh on the other hand, she is not a TV kid. She had no interest in the extremely large screen in front of her. She was much too busy eating popcorn. It didn't take long before she spilled the over priced bucket onto the floor. After that there wasn't much keeping her quiet. Matthew and I took turns taking her out to the hall and letting her run, but that got old. The movie was super cute, we are excited for it to come out on DVD. Thanks Aunt Tonya!
