Spongebob Squarepants Cake

A birthday party in the neighborhood! Buxton's friends, or his "kids" as he calls them, come together for a Spongebob party. I had the opportunity to make Bailey's cake. This cake was a lot of 'firsts' for me. My first square cake, first cake with different shaped tiers, and my first carved cake (the pineapple). It was a challenging cake, but I LOVE how it turned out. I need to work on my piping skills, but considering I have NO training in cake decorating, I am extremely proud. My husband was a huge help, Spongebob probably wouldn't look like himself without Matthew.

The kids had a blast at the party. And weren't they just adorable?! Outfits courtesy of Auntie Cara!!! It was great when we walked to the mail box, got Cara's box, Buxton carried it all the way back home. He was so excited to open it. When he saw the PINK shirt he was soooo confused, "Mommy, this isn't for me, this is Sissy's" It was adorable. I was cracking up. But he was such a stud in it!

Lunch Break

Today after our play group, the kids and I ran up to the store to pick out some good ol' lunchables to surprise Daddy with a picnic lunch at the park. When we picked Matthew up from work for his lunch break, Buxton told Daddy we would be going on a picnic at the park. Matthew thought Buxton was off in his own little world and just went along, little did he know this was true. It was a nice break from our busy day. Of course, Matthew and I are the only ones who ate. Buxton and Brayleigh were much too busy playing on the new toys to stop for some nutrition.

Buxton's new thing is collecting sticks and rocks everywhere we go. The first thing he did when we got out of the car, was grab this big stick, he spent our park trip killing spiders with it.

Brayleigh absolutely loved the swings, she made happy sounds the whole time she swung. She threw a little tantrum when it was time to get off.

A Warm Rain Storm

We had just finished a walk to the park, when suddenly a huge rain storm began to fall. The temperature was about 70 degrees, but it's raining cats and dogs. Our kiddy pool filled up in a matter of minutes. The first thing Buxton said when he saw the rain was "it's OK Mommy, I will put on my rain coat and rain boots, I promise." It was irresistible! Since it wasn't cold, we put on his boots and coat and headed out back. He had so much fun jumping in puddles and running around the yard! And when he came inside he said "I need to take a bath, I'm soo dirty!" Sissy is wondering why she can't go outside too....

MaryKay Cake

A group of MaryKay consultants asked me to make them a "test cake" for their group that meets Wednesdays. There is a large event this summer they asked me to make a cake for, so this was my trial! This cake tasted AMAZING, absolutely heavenly! I filled it with a layer of fluffed ganache, layer of fresh raspberries, and then poured ganache over top. The cake was dirty iced with vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant. MMM!

Daddy and Me Snuggle Time

Both our babies have been a little under the weather lately. Buxton is having some digestive issues and Brayleighs had a fever while cutting another molar. And our amazing Daddy has been exhausted from a hard week at work. He is an amazing SGT and has been working extra hard teaching his medics land navigation. He is finishing up two days in the classroom, teaching the entire platoon of medics land nav. and has set up a huge three day training course in the field to get his men hands on training. He has earned naps! He has gone above and beyond his duties organizing this course and we are so proud of him.

Princess Cake

The same Mommy who ordered the super mario bros cake for her son, ordered this princess tea party cake for her daughter. This cake was one of the easier cakes for me. I had the napkin to work off of. The inside of the top tier is purple and pink cake, and the bottom tier is rainbow. The girls at the party got a big kick out of it!

Picnic in the Backyard

We are having beautiful weather here in Texas. The kids are taking advantage of it- playing outside with the neighborhood kids, swimming, and now picnic dinners! This Harrison family enjoyed a relaxing dinner out back on the grass. The kids didn't get too much eating done, surprise surprise! But it was still a great evening. We look forward to doing it more often as the summer progresses.

Mail Time - McCormick Grandparents

Brayleigh has a blanket, that was actually given to Buxton when he was born, from Shoreline Community Church. It's a blue blanket with bears... she LOVES it. I love the quality and texture of the blanket, so I began using it for Brayleigh. This girl loves her 'blanky'. Luckily she doesn't want to carry it everywhere, she just needs it for bedtime, nap time, and snuggle time. I asked my Mom to see if she could get a girly blanket from the same group at church that gave Buxton this blue one. Well, the wait was over. The box arrived. I don't have a picture of her with her blanket... yet. She was sleeping when we got the box, and Brother really wanted to open it. Good thing, there was a special treat for him- his very own garden, a Veggi Tales garden none the less. He absolutely loved planting the seeds and continues to get a kick out of watering his "garden" as he calls it. He is however, bummed that he doesn't get to do more with it. Silly boy. When he saw the tomato plants (we still need to plant) he was reminded of Grandpa's tomato garden in Seattle. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma McCormick.

Many Easter Celebrations

Beautiful little lady.

Easter morning started out with baskets of goodies and jellybean breakfasts. This was the kid's first year with Easter baskets. Without going into too much detail, Mommy and Daddy got a little carried away at the Wal-Mart dollar bins.

After Easter service at church, Sissy took a nap and Buxton had an egg hunt with the neighborhood kids. He decided that each time he found an egg, he would open it and eat whatever was inside before placing it in his basket.

The day was topped off with an evening Easter BBQ at the DeBlanc's. The kids had a blast in the swimming pool and hunting for eggs yet again. This was Brayleigh Sue's first big hunt and like her brother, she ate everything as it came to her.

The little ones also enjoyed painting their very own Easter eggs.

Papa and Grandma sent an Easter care package full of goodies. Buxton went outside and showed off his new slinky with a mouthful of Peeps and Tootsie Rolls while Ray Ray just stuck with the Peeps.
