and a simple sunday

i didn't take the camera out even once today. i'm sorry! sundays are busy and relaxing for this family.

we got up, ready, breakfast, off to church! then its home for lunch and since we missed my run this morning {due to a tired family} we headed off to run the big hill in the horrible heat. next comes brayleighs nap, shower #2 for the day, a little play time at the neighbors for buxton, housework for mom, and then we head back to church for our awesome marriage study group! busy and relaxing.

now imagine this... during ever minute of our day i just explained, the kids whinnied and cried and complained and fought and drove me crazy! it's been like these for a few days. they are doing things they wouldn't normally do. i'm asking myself, "where did their brains go?" and asking them "why oh why would you do that?" it's just been crazy.

crazy enough i've whipped out the bible to showed them ephesians 6:1

"children obey your parents, for this is right."

i've also been praying for guidance, wisdom, and patiences with my babies. God is good. His word does not come back void! i'm believing for angels that awake in the morning!

simple saturday

today we headed downtown to watch toby's big sister dance at a LULAC festival.

she was beautiful! no event is complete without a bounce house or two.

i was impressed.

other then the festival, i went for a {stroller free} run, we all took a trip to walmart, and we are finishing the evening off with family movie night. which of course includes popcorn. buxton suggested we have this family night. he picked out the movie, open season 2. we used to do this frequently with matthew... we miss you!

it's been a little {rough around the edges} sort of day. the kids were not good listeners today. and we're all pretty exhausted from our busy, busy week.

but... we're always smiling!

Fashionable Friendship Friday

Our church had its annual Celebration of Friendship Tea last night.

Let me tell you, it was a day of ME!

I started our morning with light house work, but it wasn't long before Nicole and I had the hot iron going, curling and pinning our hair.

A mad dash to get Buxton and Toby from school, before it was make-up and outfit time!

Then off to the church. I ended up filling in for the no-show make-up artist, a few faces and curls later, us ladies were ready for our 5 minutes of fame.

The kids enjoyed another long evening in the nursery while I had some fantastic {adult} time with wonderful friends.

My man is good, he is GOOD!

Knowing my nerves were getting the best of me, my amazing husband had these beautiful roses sent to the church and delivered to me before the fashion show!

It made my night!!!

All smiles. Melted my heart.

I had ladies who shed a little tear once I told them this bouquet made it to me from Iraq. Matthew melted a few heart last night!

No tears fo me, I was too busy smiling and falling in love with my man all over again!

Besides a 5th grade talent show to "ain't no mountain high enough" this was my first experience with modeling! I would not be sad if it was my last!!!

topsy turvy thursday

After we mowed the lawn this morning, we had some playtime on the swings!

Our morning jog was later then usual. Therefore she enoughed a popsicle during her stroll. And I can't forget to mention baby Suzzy {the baby her Daddy gave her}! After a long walk to the commissary we enjoyed a little silly lunch. Goldfish shaped BP&J sandwiches, new "popchips", and a peach smoothie!

"never fried. never baked. take a potato, add some heat and pressure and POP!"

Our backyard tends to be the neighborhood hand out.

I hope my kids always love their home!

I'd rather have them here then anywhere else.

Our evening ended at church. We have a huge friendship tea tomorrow and I am in the fashion show, Chelse the model {eesh}! We spent 3 1/2 hours rehearsing tonight. Oh my goodness!

We didn't get home till 10pm! The best part of our day?

When I picked Buxton up from school, he had his backpack on his belly instead of the regular way, on his back. I asked

"Buxton, why do you have your backpack on backwards?"

He responded very intelligently with,

"I don't have it on backwards, I have it on FRONTwards."

Buxton had a great day, he received a {dinosaur} stamp in his folder. He is also holding a drawing he said Alyssa drew for him!

we have the pleasure of toby's company every morning for about an hour before school, and again for an hour after school.

No mohawks for this boy! But we had fun playing around. Buxton loved the mohawk. You can't tell by the look hes got in that first picture. But that was only because I told him we had to cut it.

I felt as though he was 14 years old and we were having a teenage spat. He cried and cried to keep that mohawk. He said "I am definitely not cutting this mohawk."

Right.

I told him he could do it again for Halloween but there was no way he was wearing that to school.

I'm sure this debate would have gone differently if Daddy was here...!
